A good read!
One of the best soccer books ever.Anson Dorrance has proven to be the guru for Womens soccer coaching in the United States. Some of the people he has shaped is a "Who's who" of soccer: Tony DiCiccio, Lauren Gregg, Kristine Lilly, Lorrie Fair, Cindy Parlow.... and some girl named Mia.
The book is written for players, but it is a MUST for any coach of girls, soccer or otherwise. In addition to talking about strengths and weaknesses in the current Womens game, he talks about the psychology of the team and player. He gives a no - holds barred insight into Tar Heel soccer, down to preseason drills, peaking cycles, intensity training and offseason training. It is all written in plain english that anyone can understand.
The entire UNC program is in here for all to examine. His thoughts on everything from his approach to injuries and resting players to recruiting players and demands for (scarce) scholarship money. He gives a good insight on the subject of soccer and scholarships that I wasn't aware of.
I highly recommend this book. It would be a bargain at twice the price. If you plan on playing Division I soccer, this book gives a good expectation of what the #1 program in the country looks for.
The Soccer Bible for Females and Those Who Love Them

Great!
A priceless resource- good for students and professionals.1.chochete- mujer joven (a young woman). This was new to me. I would say "jovencita" or "doncella".
2.en cuerpo y alma- plenamente, completamente (completely) This is an everyday expression in the Spanish language.
3.mala leche - mala suerte (bad luck) (Everyday expression).
4.curichi- avaro, tacaƱo (greedy)
5.meter la gamba - equivocarse (to make a mistake) I would say "meter la pata".
These are just some examples I selected at random and #4 , # 5 are new to me. I know the generic expressions but not the slang, which is valuable, and somewhere down the road I may come across these expressions. As mentioned above this resource is priceless and it will broaden your scope and understanding of everyday Spanish and aid you with correct usage. This is money well spent!

Four Star Book

A Very Good Book
A very engaging, deep look at the man behind the president

The mathematics of fractals rather than their beautyTo illustrate the potential impact of fractal compression, we take the following paraphrased quote from the introduction to the book. '' Encarta is a multimedia encyclopedia on a single CD... . In addition to an exhaustive collection of articles it contains seven hours of sound, 100 animations, 800 color maps... more than 7,000 photographs... and all encoded in less than 600 megabytes of data. All of the pictures are stored using fractal compression techniques." The mathematics used to obtain such rates of compression is thoroughly explained, but it is not easy to understand. Presented in the standard form of theorem followed by proof, some background in real analysis and linear algebra is essential to understand the heavier ideas. But it is well worth it, as some of the results are truly astonishing. Most impressive is the ability to zoom in on the images without significant loss of clarity. C source code solutions to some of the problems are included.
There is no doubt in my mind that by the end of this decade, exposure to fractals will be an essential component of the undergraduate major in applied mathematics. The majority of pure math programs will also include some exposure. While futurists dispute the consequences, there is universal agreement that the rapid transfer of enormous amounts of data will be the driving economic and entertainment force of the next several decades. Fractal compression techniques appear to be the leading candidate to provide the necessary degree of compacting.
Suitable for a course in the mathematics of fractals or an advanced seminar in data compression, this book should be required reading for all applied mathematicians. It is truly one of the most fascinating books that I have ever encountered.

Must Have Book

Good ST Resource, a tad disgustingWhite Wolf seems to not go so much "adult" in terms of pornography as it does on a "lets see how gross we can make it." The entry comic is enough to turn a weak stomach, so definitely keep it out of children's hands -- just as the company suggests. It had a healthy spattering of profanity which wasn't necessary at all times in this reader's opinion, tossing it in possibly to put the "adult" rating on it instead of for emphasis. In today's era, however, that's easily overlooked. Once you get past the general disgusting aspects, or if they don't bother you, the book itself is an excellent resource. It develops the Formori by leaps and bounds over the Book of the Wyrm First or Second Editions. In Freak Legion, you not only learn the in depth history of various Fomori types and breeds, but you also have a full list of how to create and build them with the special powers (and the taints it costs them to be in servitude to the Wyrm.) It was very informative, and excellent fodder for even the Vampire Storyteller who might want to introduce a new element into their game to throw of players who have already "been there, seen that, done that" with V:tM. Pentex certainly doesn't have to be Werewolf specific with a Malkavian antribu on its board of directors, and the company itself is outlined in some ways which are "political" similar to Vampire, although that isn't the focus of the book. All told, I would recommend this book to any serious White Wolf Storyteller. There is a small chapter with ST Guidelines to go from splatter horror, to possible politics, to a good old fashioned "blaze of glory" situation. There's something for almost everyone. A great companion to Book for the Wyrm Second Edition.
